Oscar-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg and her business partner Maya Elisabeth have shut down their popular medical Cannabis brand Whoopi & Maya after four years. The duo closed their business because of a rift between them, and despite efforts to save the brand, Goldberg ultimately decided to walk away from the company.
“In the last few months, Whoopi and Maya wanted a divorce, and the board had worked very hard to try and come up with some proposals … but we couldn’t get both principals to agree,” Whoopi & Maya board member and High Times veteran Rick Cusick told Page Six.

Cusick explained that the board came up with a solution that they thought was a “win-win,” and it would have allowed them to “preserve the company.” But, Goldberg ended up leaving the company “reeling,” when she sent an email last week informing the board that she was withdrawing as a board member.
Cusick doesn’t know what caused the falling out between Goldberg and Elisabeth, and The View co-host didn’t mention it when she gave her statement about her decision to leave the company.
Goldberg announced “with deep regret and sadness” that she had withdrawn from the board of Whoopi & Maya. She added that she is very proud of what she and Elisabeth accomplished together, and she looks forward to moving ahead with other projects in the market.
Elisabeth is a “canna-businesswoman” who is an 11-time High Times Cannabis Cup winner, as well as the owner of Om Edibles. In her statement, she said it was a “truly special opportunity” to work with Goldberg, and something that she will be forever grateful for.
Elisabeth added that Whoopi & Maya products helped a lot of women, and hopefully someday they can make them accessible again.

“No regrets whatsoever,” said Elisabeth. “Only gratitude and forward momentum.” She added that she wishes everyone in the partnership “only the best.”
The Whoopi & Maya cannabis brand featured cannabis edibles, tinctures, topic rubs, and THC-infused bath soak for women who suffered from menstrual pain. Goldberg explained to Vanity Fair at the company launch that most women can’t smoke a joint and go to work, but customers could easily put their products in their purse.
The company posted a message to customers on their website this week, saying they were deeply saddened to tell them that Whoopi & Maya would no longer continue operation.
