In a devastating incident on Friday morning, January 12, two students from Whittemore-Prescott High School lost their lives in a car accident in Ogemaw County.

The collision occurred around 8 a.m. in Richland Township on Mills Road near Black Road. According to the Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office, a two-door Chevrolet Cobalt traveling west on Mills Road lost control, crossed the centerline, and collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado heading east.

Both the front passenger and the 17-year-old driver of the Cobalt were transported to MyMichigan Health West Branch for medical attention. As per the sheriff’s office, the driver remains hospitalized, while the front-seat passenger succumbed to injuries at the medical facility.

Tragically, a second 17-year-old, seated in the rear of the Cobalt, lost their life at the scene.

Mike Ehinger, the Superintendent of Whittemore-Prescott School District, confirmed that all three occupants of the Cobalt were students of Whittemore-Prescott High School.
