We was so gratefully given the opportunity to sit down with Jessica to talk about her upcoming mini-series ‘Sharp Objects’, ‘Alex and Me’ and lots more!
Hi Jessica! Welcome to CelebMix, we are so excited and honoured to have you on the site! Would you like to introduce yourself to our lovely readers?
I’m a 15-year-old actress who can be seen in Nickelodeon’s Alex & Me and HBO’s “Sharp Objects”.
You are starring in the brand-new mini-series ‘Sharp Objects’ next month. Could you give us a brief description of what the series is about?
Sharp Objects is about a reporter who has to go back to her home town to cover the disappearance and murder of my character (Natalie Keene).
How was it working on ‘Sharp Objects’ and getting to work with big names like Amy Adams?
It was amazing to work on such a huge production and get to work with incredible actors like Amy Adams, who I have been a fan of for a long time. It was an experience I will never forget, and I had so much fun filming and joking around with the cast, even though the show is very dark.
You also star in the brand new Nickeloden movie ‘Alex and Me’. Could you also give us a brief description of what this movie is about?
Alex & Me is about a girl named Reagan who loves soccer and the U.S Women’s National soccer star, Alex Morgan. When Reagan hits her head, Alex Morgan appears and trains her.
What was it like working on another project that differs so much from ‘Sharp Objects’? Do you like to keep your options open when it comes to TV/movie roles?
There was definitely very different vibes on set while filming Sharp Objects, an HBO drama, compared to Alex & Me, a Nickelodeon comedy. I love to change it up and keep my options open when it comes to roles, and different types of projects.
‘Alex and Me’ is very soccer based – did you have any professional training with soccer or was this something you had taught/learnt yourself for the movie?
I played soccer for many years on a team before I started focusing on acting. So, I did have a background of soccer, but they also had a coach on set to practice with.
You also star in the short, Broken. Can you tell us about this project & your role?
Broken is a dark, but true story about a little boy who runs from his abusive home and finds a police officer who investigates. I play his older sister who is physically abused by the mother.
Are there any other skills that you have had to learn for certain roles previously? And if so, have you brought these skills in to your everyday life?
I had to learn a Russian and German accent once. I loved to play around with my friends and family using the accents.
If you could be in any movie (out or to be released) which one would you go for?
Jurassic World!
Who or what inspired you to become an actress?
Many actors and actresses have inspired me, but one is particular is Jennifer Lawrence.
Who is the one actor/actress that you would LOVE to work with in the future?
Dwayne Johnson.
When you’re not acting, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Hang out with friends and family, or relax and read and book.
Lastly, do you have any upcoming and exciting projects you can tell us about?
I’ve been auditioning for some really cool roles recently so stayed tuned!
