Kenshi Yu, a three years old child, and his nanny were on their way to school in Pasig City on February 9, 2005, when Yu was kidnapped by six guys. Yu was found in a safe house in Cubao, Quezon City, 11 days later by members of the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response Group (PACER). Roldan and six of his associates were arrested on February 21, 2005. Roldan and Suzette Wang, his girlfriend at that time, masterminded the kidnapping and wanted P200 million for the kid’s return, according to written statements of their collaborators. Wang was a friend of the mother of the abducted victim. As far as his educational Qualifications are concerned, he completed his Graduation from Trinity University of Asia in Quezon City.

He played basketball for Trinity College before being drafted to play for a short time with the Philippine Basketball Association’s (PBA) Ginebra squad and the Gilbey’s Gin Gimlets season team in 1983. In 1979, he starred in the films Kambal Sa Uma, Salome, and Paradise Inn. In 1985, he starred in the film Paradise Inn. In 1983, he earned a Metro Manila Film Festival award for Best Supporting Actor in the film Hot Property. In the same year (1985), Roldan starred as a kidnapper in Eddie Garcia’s box office smash action picture Terrorist Hunter. Markang Bungo: The Bobby Ortega Story (1991), Manong Gang (1992), and Emong Salvacion all play villains in this action film (1996). In 1988, he was elected to the Quezon City council, and from 1992 to 1995, he served in the 3rd District of Quezon City as a congressman. In 1995, he ran for a second term but was defeated by Michael Defensor.

During his stay in prison, Roldan confessed that he forged a “covenant” with God as a consequence of prison-based Bible studies and fellowship workshops. He became a born-again Christian after that. He has served as a pastor in Quezon City’s Jesus Christ the Life Giver Ministry. He is the father of actor Marco Gumabao, who made his debut in ABS-comedy CBN’s series Luv U, and Michele Gumabao, a four-year member of the DLSU Women’s Volleyball Team. He is of Chinese descent.
