After a successful introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer, Ant-Man will be making a welcome comeback in the newly announced sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, a criminal who takes up the Ant-Man persona from Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, the first film had a troubled production, with director Edgar Wright leaving a year before the film’s release. He was replaced by Peyton Reed, but for many the damage had already been done.
Ant-Man was well received on release though, and now Marvel have announced a sequel, with Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne, revealed at the end of the film to be the new Wasp, set to be given a more prominent role.
The sequel means that some of the other Phase Three films will be shuffled, with Black Panther moving up to February 2018 and Captain Marvel to March 2019. Three as yet unannounced films have been slated for May 2020, July 2020 and November 2020.
